My fishmonger career started at Tesco's in 2015 when I was asked to go onto the fish counter. I only accepted if I could do their gold Training course and become a fishmonger. I did my gold training and at the end my score was a pass with merit. In 2015, 2017 and 2019 I did the British Fish craft championship and achieved the Charlie Caisey award, which is an award for most promising new comer not to reach the final of the fish craft challenge. And that is where it all started for my love of fish." Paul

James has been a mad keen sea angler from his own boats for about 25 years, before deciding to turn his passion for fish into a career about three years ago. He loves sourcing the best rod and line caught day boat fish, which they are lucky to have on the quayside Padstow.

Amy says: "Becoming a fishmonger is the best thing I’ve ever done. Being a fishmonger is directed as a male role in the industry, so being female and achieving such high qualifications is a dream come true. I am proud to say I am the youngest female advanced fishmonger in the country. On a sunny day nothing beats catching your own! Here’s a catch of a lovely wild rod and line caught Sea Bass."
